If Avis really cares about me, they'll read my blog. OK, now that we have that mind boggling consumer self-centeredness out of the way, here's what they should do: Add the Preferred Member display into the regular customer building, too.

There were lots of people standing in the regular line/building that had not made their own reservations and did not know whether their company had this special status or not. Instead of losing their spot in line, which was fairly long, they called the people who had made the reservations for them. Since you have a lot of corporate customers, the extra display would let them get in line and still see if they can just go pick up their car from the preferred building without fear of ending up at the end of the regular line.
