I got to play around with all the UMPCs today. Since there isn't a whole lot that hasn't been covered elsewhere, I'll just note the things that might be new and aren't affected by the units being prototypes:
- The screen resolution at 1024x600 was spectacular on the TabletKiosk eo. The Samsung Q1 didn't do as well.
- They also had a Motion Computing LS800 and a Fujitsu P1500D. I really really liked the LS800. It has a bigger screen but still doesn't seem much bigger than the UMPCs. TabletKiosk can be glad Motion Computing didn't drop the LS800 price a few months earlier since I had looked at the LS800 but wasn't willing to drop the $2k on it.
- The Samsung felt the lightest (I didn't bother with the Founder). The LS800 felt like it would be too heavy to hold similar to UMPCs even though there isn't a whole lot of difference in the weight.
- The ASUS R2H was the same unit that was demoed at CES and pretty much everywhere else. It's even been in some (most?) of the ads. I felt like asking it for an autograph ;)
- Writing on the eo seemed to work great with the stylus. I had to really use my fingernails with DialKeys.
- There's a few other pictures on my flickr account.
TabletKiosk is said to be burning in the units this weekend and finishing installations early next week and then shipping. I'll add some real info once my unit makes its way to me.
