Yes, well... What can I say? You've probably heard it before, but "Blame Ian". He made the wonderful
YMU Build-A-Link web page and made the mistake of asking me to comment on it. Well, I did, and then some. As a result the
Yahoo! Music Toolbar for Internet Explorer was born.
Why make another IE toolbar? Well, I'm lazy. If you want to remember that address or find it from your favorites/bookmarks while your personal muse is hanging around (charging by the second, no doubt), let alone open up the required extra windows to perform the search, use the keyboard to select the link, paste it... you get my point, or you will once you try out the toolbar.
This toolbar let's you search Y! Music for artists then create the Yahoo! Music Unlimited link directly and paste it on the clipboard. In other words:
1. Type a search term in the toolbar, press enter or choose All/Artist/Album/Song (Video not supported for Build-A-Link). A new Internet Explorer window will open with the results.
2. Click the correct result displayed by Y! Music.
3. On the toolbar, click Copy Link or one of the other options. The link for YMU will be copied to the clipboard and the search window will close.
4. Paste the link into your blog, IM or wherever you need it.
Since I was at the keyboard and had the source code in front of me, I threw in a few other features. The most interesting is "Blog It". It will automatically open up the 360 blog compose page and prefill the blog with a link to the page you were on. Don't see that on the official Yahoo! toolbar (yet)
